NDFB members made scapegoat
In an planned drama played by the police to cover up their image from inefficiency to deal with post Athiabari massacre on January 17 last by the NDFB(S) claimed 7 innocent peoples mostly labourers who were coming in a night super from Siliguri, West Bengal, two NDFB(S) members namely Khwmta Narzary @ N Khaolaigiri of Athiabari and Milon Basumatary @ B Milon of Mwinaguri, both of Serfanguri police station of Kokrajhar district have been made scapegoat although they already have surrendered before police three months ago.
Kokrajhar additional superintendent of police(ASP) Surjit Singh Panesar while giving reaction told that the police could arrest both the NDFB(S) members from Bismuri area (exact location not given) of Kokrajhar district on Thursday evening at around 5 PM. He claimed that the duo NDFB members were involved in the massacre of bus travelers at Athiabari under Serfanguri police station on January 17 last.
Meanwhile, family members of the Milon and Khwmta revealed that Khwmta who is newly married NDFB cadre surrendered him along with four others on March 11 before the ASP Panesar and deposited a single shot AK-47 rifle while Milon, father of two daughters also surrendered on March 31 this year before the Panesar and deposited a 7.65mm pistol and some ammunitions.
The family members also said that they have been in surrender camp at Sudempuri in Kokrajhar twon after surrendered. Though they were given shelter by police, they are yet to receive surrendered I-Card, the family sources said adding that ASP on Thursday called them up to Kokrajhar for giving them I-Card but later arrested them.
Khwmta and Milon told that they were in Udalguri while incident at Athiabari took place and they use to come to their houses now and for domestic work.
Kokrajhar police registered case against them vide no. 249/14 under section- 25(1A), Arms Act and under section R/W-3/4 ES, Arms Act. However, police fail to show the pistol and grenade claimed to have recovered from their procession on Thursday. The police officers was also refused to interact with media persons into incident.
