Nityananda-Ratul killer captured

Police on Tuesday claimed to have captured 6 UPLA militants responsible for killing of Nityananda Goswami and Ratul Nunisa who were killed at an encounter in Karbi Anglong district last week.

The UPLA militants including their deputy commander in chief Nikunj Kathar were captured during a combing operation inside the a dense jungle in the hills district bordering Meghalaya.

The huge operation was launched from Monday evening four days after the Karbi militants killed the Hamren SP Goswami and his PSO Ratul Nunisa at an encounter which created no less flutter across the state.

DGP Khagen Sarma along with top ranked officers have been closely monitoring the entire operation armed with over 50 morter shells. Formal announcement is expected later in the day.
