Dr MMS is the MP from Assam and he should take the moral responsibilty for the violence. The UPA and state government who had been ruling for the last 10 years must be blamed for such butchery. But Congress sees only shadow of Modi on anything. The Congress leaders leaders who used to revel in the luxury and comforts in Delhi offices were always apathetic towards the violence in Kashmir and Punjab during the 1970's and 1980's. The secular leaders were more philosohical and much less practical in understanding the problems of people in all parts of the country. There was similar violence in 2012 in NE. Then the government should have take precautionary measures to avert the occurance of similar incidents. When there is NO capable ruler or leader at the centre, the state governments will also follow the anarchy. "Yatha Raja Thatha Praja" means "AS THE RULER SO THE RULED". If the king of the country is of good character, with good heart and always thinking of well-being of his subjects, and if he is a spiritual thinker and peaceful minded, his subjects will be like him in all these ways too
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that his government will firmly deal with the scourge of terrorism and violence in any form. With a pledge to oppose all acts of terrorism and militant violence, Assam observed the 'Mourning Day' across the state on Saturday to mourn the tragic death of 18 people, mostly schoolchildren, in a bomb blast at Dhemaji on Independence Day in 2004. The All Assam Students Union on Saturday demanded governor JB Patnaik’s intervention into the Assam-Nagaland border flare up. Led by AASU adviser Dr Samujjjal Bhattacharya, a delegation of the students’ organization called on Patnaik at 3-30 in the Raj Bhawan and discussed the situation in Uriam Ghat. The delegation further urged the governor to step up the measures to bail out the flood affected people in Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts. Talking to reporters, the AASU leaders said that Patnaik assured them of steps to look into their demands.
A CBI slethus probing the multi crore Sharada scam conducted a fresh raid in Guwahati along with Agartala, Odisha and New Delhi on Saturday. The country wide raids were conducted simultaneously at Focus NE office in Ulubari apart from an abandoned satellite news channel in Maligaon for several hours. The country’s premier investigation agency on Thursday raided Focus NE office and sealed two residences in Rukmininagar and Kharghuli area belonging to Manoranjana Sinh, the estrange wife of former union minister Matang Sinh. The Election Commission has announced the schedule of the by polls in Janunamukh, Silchar and Lakhipur. The last date for filing nominations in the three assembly constituencies is August 27. Scrutiny will take place on August 28 while the last date for withdrawal of nomination is August 29. The polling will take place from 7 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon on September 13. The counting will be held on September 16. By polling in Silchar was required following the election of Sushmita Dev to the Lok Sabha while Lakhipur will go to the polls following the expiry of MLA Dinesh Prasad Gowala.
The Assam Public Service Commission will hold the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination-2014 on September 28 to select the candidates for 180 ACS, APS and allied services. According to the commission, the examination would take place from 10 in the morning in all district headquarters on that day.
In a major reshuffle in Assam BJP unit, Siddharth Bhattacharya is all set to replace Sarbananda Sonowal as the party’s state president. Bhattacharya received the message from party president Amrit Shah on Saturday who announced that the party will fight the 2016 assembly polls under his leadership. He will take over as new president in a day or two.

Normal life in the upper Assam districts comes to a grinding halt on Saturday following the All Adivasi Students' Association (AASA)-sponsored state-wide bandh in protest against the border violence in Goalghat district where Naga miscreants killed at least 11 local residents in Uriam Ghat this week. Vehicles are off from the roads in Sivasagar, Golaghat, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. Shops and markets, schools and colleges, banks and offices remained closed due to the 12 hour bandh call by AASA on Saturday. Tension seems to have mounted in Golaghat district along the Assam-Nagaland border where nine more bodies were found on Friday three days after the Naga miscreants attacked the local residents in Uriamghat. Sources confirmed that all the local residents were killed in the recent indiscriminate firing and arson in eight villages. Most of them were believed to have killed in arson when the miscreants torched at least 200 houses forcing over thousand people to leave their houses in Uriamghat area.
