Waiting for Rahul Gandhi

Amid a massive security arrangement, people thronging in thousands in Biswanath Chariali to attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally on Monday.

Security forces are fanning across the district to thwart any move by NDFB-S militants to disrupt Gandhi’s poll rally to campaign for Tezpur party candidate Bhupen Bora.

Senior party leaders told Assam Times that security forces are guarding hundreds of buses deployed by the party to ferry people to the rally at the Kamala Kanta Khetra.

Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Tezpur at 11 in the morning. Then he would straightly leave for Biswanath Charilai to hold the rally. He would fly to Dibrugarh at 1-30 in the afternoon.      

Massive security arrangement is required in the entire district in view of NDFB-S militants’ 12 hour bandh to oppose Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Rahul's rally in Assam is equally important. He has been strength of congress party and he has given its party a breakthrough. His efforts were transformed into actions.

One can see that Rahul Gandhi's popularity is rising day by day. He is very much popular among the young generation and also among the people at the grassroot level. He is putting good efforts in reaching out to people.

CM's stock taking meet on COVID19 sans Himanta

Guwahati : Assam chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had a stock taking video conference with all district authorities in the time of COVID-19. Sonowal asked Deputy Commissioners to take all possible measures to keep the killer virus at bay.  Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his junior minister Piyush Hazarika were conspicuous by their absence from the meeting on COVID-19. Sarma along with two senior cabinet ministers on Wednesday reviewed the situation and knockdown in Guwahati at a meeting with chief minister. The meetings assumed significance after Indian Medical Association and All Assam Medical Students Association alleged utter mismanagement of the menace.

IMA allege anomalies in Covid-19 management

Guwahati: The Indian Medical Association has strongly criticized the COVID19 care and management in Assam and suggested the government to formulate measures taking the medical experts into confidence. In a letter to health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma,  IMA's state unit alleged a number of anomalies in the system which why,  the number of infected doctors and health workers has gone up on every passing day. The association further questioned the government's intention on the violation of ICMR guidelines for home treatment of the asymptomic patients.

Prisoners stage dharna, demand Akhil's release

Guwahati: As many as 1200 prisoners at the Guwahati Central Jail staged sharna on Saturday demanding release of Akhil Gogoi whom the police arrested 7 months back in a number of cases. The prisoners thronged near the jail gate and started Sharna and shouted slogans raising their demands. No let-up in Baghjan inferno

There is no let up in the inferno at gas well in Baghjan which caught fire on Tuesday after ten days of blow out.  Around 1600 families in 1.5 km radius have been camping at safe distance and most of them alleged to have lost their houses in the inferno. Firefighters dead in huge inferno at gas well

TINSUKIA: Two fire fighters died as they were trying to douse a huge inferno at a gas well in Tinsukia district on Tuesday even as the fury continues to spread out of control sending statewide shock and anger. The inferno took place on Tuesday when a team of experts brought from Singapore were trying to defuse smokes of gas bellowing from the gas well belonging to Oil India Limited at Baghjan. The technical snag took place on May 27 resulting in the gas blow out from the ill fated well forcing over 1700 families to be displaced in 3 km radius.
