UG Brahma takes oath as Cabinet minister

 of Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma have expressed their excited and happiness having sworn in as Cabinet minister of Assam today in Guwahati.

Brahma was elected to the Assam assembly from Chapaguri constituency on UPPL ticket defeating BPF candidate Hitest Basumatary.

 Elder brother of UG Brahma,Putul Chandra Brahma has extended sincere thanks to the newly sworn chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

 UG Brahma was hailed from Chalani Batabari near Dotma in Kokrajhar district. Brahma was ex Rajya Sabha MP and former ABSU president.

 Elder brother of Brahma has expressed hopeful that newly formed government will  able to work for massive development and welfare of the citizens across the state.

He said that the new government must dedicate their services towards social integration and mass development in the state.

He said that citizens from the state are wanting healthy welfare and development among the society.

Meanwhile, several organisations of Bodoland Territorial Region including Nath Yogi Students Union,Sutradhar Sanmiloni and SC students union of BTR area have demanded inclusion of Lawrence Islary,MLA from Kokrajhar East constituency of UPPL party in the council of ministers of Assam cabinet which was sworn in today.

Leaders from the organisations demanded early induction of Islary in the Assam cabinet to represent the Kokrajhar district in the state.

Islary defeated senior BPF leader and former Assam minister Pramila Rani Brahma over 20 margin of votes in the assembly elections.

 Leaders urged the UPPL chief Pramod Boro and chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to induct Islary in the Assam cabinet in days to come.

The All Bodo Students Union welcomes the formation of the New Government by the BJP, AGP & UPPL alliance in the state. 

In a press statement,ABSU president Dipen Boro has extended congratulation the elevated 15th Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and his team of Ministers who have taken oath today.

" The ABSU is hopeful the new Government in Assam will strive for the peace, harmony and all round development of the downtrodden communities and to address their issues and to strengthen the newly formed BKWAC in speedy manner in the state", ABSU said.

The BTR accord has many provisions to be implemented by government of Assam and Center. 

The All Bodo Students of (ABSU) urge the new government under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the chief minister will implement the entire BTR Accord clauses for the socio-economic and educational development in the Bodoland Territorial Region in letter and spirit.

The students union also congratulate all the MLAs from UPPL and the elevated two cabinet ministers Urkhao Gwra Brahma from 63 Chapaguri (ST) LAC and  Gabinda Chandra Basumatari from 69 Udalguri (ST) LAC.

ABSU also thank the people of BTR irrespective of communities for massive support in the exercise of democratic process of adult franchise in a peaceful manner and making the strong democracy,the statement said.

120 metre long national flag

In a move that evokes widespread response, Science College flashed a 120 metre long national tricolour flag to mark the national freedom day.  A rally was organized along with the National Flag, which was started from college complex via Santinagar, DC Road, fly over and concluded at the beginning point. Marginal let up in Kokrajhar flood

There seems some let up in the flood situation in Kokrajhar district on Monday where six people died snd nearly 1 lakh rendered homeless. The water level of the major rivers seems to have shown a receding trend from the afternoon and if this trend continues, the flood waters would recede gradually. But many relief camps are said to have fallen short of materials to accommodate the affected people who were evacuated to the relief camps'. Atleast nine members from Ranjan Daimary faction of NDFB have joined BPF on Monday. Preparation to celebrate I-Day in Kokrajhar

Amid a mammoth security measure preparation is on in Kokrajhar,heart of BTAD administration to celebrate the 71st Independence Day along with rest of the state. Flood death toll 6 in Kokrajhar

At least six persons reportedly dies, including a couple and one is went missing in flood fury in Kokrajhar district till Saturday. According to district administration source, six persons lost their lives in the ongoing flash flood at different places in the district,including a couple under Gossaigaon PS were found death at their nearby pond on Saturday.They are identified as Juel Hembrom and his wife Kuma Baskey.Suranjan Datta(Fakiragram),Pranjit Roy of Bhumki,Dwithun Brahma of Bagribari,Frajen Wary of Diabari Andhujhar. FCI godown in Kokrajhar under water

The current flood wave is learnt to have damaged a huge quantity of rice to the tune of 1000 quintal, stored at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in Kokrajhar.There seems to be no respite in the flood wave which brings brimful misery to the people in the BTAD areas. More rainfall keeps the rivers swelling till Friday and the surging waters have submerged more areas on every passing day. The road communication along the JD Road in Kokrajhar town remains heavily disrupted for flood along with many residential areas. The marooned people are forced to take shelter at high places.

Ultimatum on Lafikul killing probe

Many parties, organizations and individuals have been demanding speedy probe into the killing of Lafikul Islam Ahmed to put the culprits behind the bars. Former rebels behind Lafikul killing!

Former Assam Minister Siddique Ali Ahmed expresses suspects the role of rebels in ceasefire behind the killing of Lafikul Islam Ahmed. But the Congress leader refused to name the rebels who killed the ABMSU leader in Kokrajhar. Siddique told reporters when he visited Ahmed’s bereaved family members on Thursday. Relief for Lafikul's family

 The Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC )  on Tuesday issued appointment letter to his younger brother and sister of Lafikul Ahmed who was killed by unidentified miscreants a couple of weeks back in Kokrajhar.
