UG Brahma takes oath as Cabinet minister

 of Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma have expressed their excited and happiness having sworn in as Cabinet minister of Assam today in Guwahati.

Brahma was elected to the Assam assembly from Chapaguri constituency on UPPL ticket defeating BPF candidate Hitest Basumatary.

 Elder brother of UG Brahma,Putul Chandra Brahma has extended sincere thanks to the newly sworn chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

 UG Brahma was hailed from Chalani Batabari near Dotma in Kokrajhar district. Brahma was ex Rajya Sabha MP and former ABSU president.

 Elder brother of Brahma has expressed hopeful that newly formed government will  able to work for massive development and welfare of the citizens across the state.

He said that the new government must dedicate their services towards social integration and mass development in the state.

He said that citizens from the state are wanting healthy welfare and development among the society.

Meanwhile, several organisations of Bodoland Territorial Region including Nath Yogi Students Union,Sutradhar Sanmiloni and SC students union of BTR area have demanded inclusion of Lawrence Islary,MLA from Kokrajhar East constituency of UPPL party in the council of ministers of Assam cabinet which was sworn in today.

Leaders from the organisations demanded early induction of Islary in the Assam cabinet to represent the Kokrajhar district in the state.

Islary defeated senior BPF leader and former Assam minister Pramila Rani Brahma over 20 margin of votes in the assembly elections.

 Leaders urged the UPPL chief Pramod Boro and chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to induct Islary in the Assam cabinet in days to come.

The All Bodo Students Union welcomes the formation of the New Government by the BJP, AGP & UPPL alliance in the state. 

In a press statement,ABSU president Dipen Boro has extended congratulation the elevated 15th Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and his team of Ministers who have taken oath today.

" The ABSU is hopeful the new Government in Assam will strive for the peace, harmony and all round development of the downtrodden communities and to address their issues and to strengthen the newly formed BKWAC in speedy manner in the state", ABSU said.

The BTR accord has many provisions to be implemented by government of Assam and Center. 

The All Bodo Students of (ABSU) urge the new government under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the chief minister will implement the entire BTR Accord clauses for the socio-economic and educational development in the Bodoland Territorial Region in letter and spirit.

The students union also congratulate all the MLAs from UPPL and the elevated two cabinet ministers Urkhao Gwra Brahma from 63 Chapaguri (ST) LAC and  Gabinda Chandra Basumatari from 69 Udalguri (ST) LAC.

ABSU also thank the people of BTR irrespective of communities for massive support in the exercise of democratic process of adult franchise in a peaceful manner and making the strong democracy,the statement said.

Bodo organizations stick to Bodoland

Bodos remember Bineswar Brahma

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) remembered Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma, former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, paying floral tribute at burial place o his 17th death anniversary  in Kokrajhar on Saturday. Brahma was shot dead by armed extremist at his Bhetapara residence in Guwahati on 19th August in 2000 when he was president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha. Two bodies recovered

Two accidental deaths in two different places sent no less shock in Kojrajhar on Friday. The first one took place at Islampur where a woman  was  electrocuted to death.     According to police, one Rashida Bibi (35) wife of  Wajj Ali of Islampur village Kazigaon in Kokrajhar district died of electricution.The incident took place around 5:30 am in the morning as she went to the nearby electric post where she has been electrocuted.  In separate incident in Chirang, a body was found floating on the Champawati River at Basugaon of Chirang district. Appointment letters distributed

Altogether 80 teachers  received appointment letters for the post of headteacher and assistant headteacher in High Schools at a programme held at BTC secretariat conference hall in Kokrajhar in Friday. The appointment letter was issued by education department of BTC. Seventy three was appointed as headteacher and seven are as assistant headteacher in the four districts of BTAD. Relief materials distributed

Protest rally in Kojrajhar

Many student bodies in Kokrajhar took out a huge rally in Friday demanding CBI probe into the killing of Lafikul Islam Ahmed which took place 18 days ago. Post flood watery grave for 5

 A pall of gloom descends in Kokrajhar when five children met watery grave in the district in the post flood scene during that last 24 hours.  All the minor boys  were drowned in two different villages in Gosaaigaon circle . They drowned at their nearby different ponds within 24-hours since Wednesday.  They have been identified as Afruja Kathun, Fatema Kathun, Jiyarul Ali, Rejina Kathun and Manjuma Kathun.

The Kokrajhar Government College observed its 59th foundation day with day long programme scheduled at College conference hall on Wednesday. BTC deputy chief Khampa Borgayari attended thr function as chief guest who lit the lamp to inaugurate the function.
