Midterm State level Poet Convention at Nilbagan

Hojai:-The 15th Midterm State Level Convention of Sadou Asom Kabi Sanmilan is going to be held on September 29 to October 2 with an extensive 4 days programme at Nilbagan under Hojai district. As per a Press release,  Ujjal Powgam,  Secretary  General  of State Sanmilan Program stated that around  50 books on poems will be released on that occasion.He said A number of noted poets and intellectuals of the State including many writers,poets and literateurs from different parts the country will take part in the conference.Also many distinguished poets are going to be conferred with titles at the Sanmilan.  As per the organisers  the conference will establish a bond of unity and integrity. A book fair will also be organised on this special occasion. The members of Sadou Asom Kabi Sanmilan has appealed to all the sections  of the society for their invaluable co-operation to make the event an grand success.

The Hojai police have arrested 12 gamblers as they were gambling on Thursday late night defying the restrictions imposed by the authorities.   Acting on a tip off, Hojai Police had a sudden visit to the Krishna nagar area where 12 gamblers were picked up who were gambling at a room. A case was registered in Hojai Police Station  bearing No No. 717/17 under section 13/14 of Assam Game and Betting Act. Diwali is back to illuminate the landscape with millions of earthen lamps. Potters are busy in making lamps for sale on the occasion. Now focus falls on  an interior area of Amtola village, about 6 km from Hojai town where even the master degree holders are keeping busy with making earthen lamps.   “This  is our traditional business and I have also been engaged in this work for since 20 years,” said Rajbali Prasad a potter, who is an MA degree holder.
