India Post Payments Bank launched in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: Along with rest of the state, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) is also launched in Kokrajhar today at a programme held at Commerce College auditorium.

 In Goalpara division, twenty posts/sub posts offices have started their payments bank system in the region from Saturday on its first phase of services.
Principal of Commerce College, Kokrajhar Dr Ratneswar Debnath graced as chief guest on the occasion and lighted the lamp to launch the India Posts Payments Bank for Goalpara division of Postal department. Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Kokrajhar Prafulla Chandra Barman,SP Kokrajhar  Rajen Singh, Principal of Kokrajhar Girls College Dr Rupam Kumar Brahma were prominent attendeess on the occasion.

Dr Debnath while lauded the India posts payments bank venture initiated by Department of Posts to connect citizens with banking system across the country. He said that IPPB will give an opportunity among society to make awareness on economically run in healthy manner and financial gaining up.

Superintendent of Posts for Goalpara division, Dhubri Ratul Sarma while talking to the reporters on the occasion said the bank system will connect to the rural area citizens. He said peoples are getting bank facility at the rural areas and involved IPPB will be availed at the rural areas to dedicate bank services. He informed that postmen are touching all rural peoples with necessary initiatives. The posts are working for the welfare and banking facilities with proper communication. The IPPB will provide all concern facilities which are providing in the banks in the country. The launching payments bank will be benefitted for the citizens in the state,Sarma said.

 ‘We do hope that the newly launch India posts payments bank will be giving a new ray of hope in connecting with banking system in the state’, he added.

KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar police apprehended two heroin smugglers from Kokrajhar town late Tuesday evening in a search operation. Kokrajhar police conducted a search operation at one house along the Ganga Hall Road and seized 58.9 grams of heroin. Two persons were apprehended. KOKRAJHAR: A tuition master has been arrested for allegedly molestating of minor girl in Kokrajhar town on Sunday evening. According to family, a 9-year-old girl went for tuition class at the nearby house under the Ward no.2 along with her classmates in the morning around at 8 am. Five persons were arrested by te police for illegally carrying cattles in five trucks on Thursday morning at Karigaon national highways in Kokrajhar district. Police intercepted the trucks carrying 80 cattles, including 14 buffaloes during the petrolling in the 31C National Highways. The trucks were bound for Nine Mile, Guwahati from Pandipara and Sonapur of West Bengal. The cattles were purchased by Pioneer Livestocks. KOKRAJHAR: Security forces have recovered large number cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives inside Manas National Park (MNP) under Gavarukundha range near Panbari under Bijni police station in Chirang district on Tuesday morning.
