Bihu: beyond boundaries

Magh Bihu is not confine to Assam only these days. The much vaunted festival seems to have gone beyond the geographical boundaries at the initiatives of a section of Assamese people residing outside.

Mention may be made of Bangaluru where the festival was celebrated at the Goan resort Palolem Tree House on January 16.

It was named as Aamez-the Eastern Carnival of Unity.

The main idea of Aamez was to celebrate Magh Bihu in a different way keeping all traditional aspects unchanged.

The two days carnival began with a cultural exchanging with Goa. These are apart from Bihu dance, Goan Traditional Balance Dance Act and Indian Classical Fusion music. The harvest feast included all traditional items that drew appreciation from all quarters.

People from Bangalore, Goa, Thane, Jodhpur, Belgium, Russia, Poland etc participated in the first season of Aamez.
