King Weds Mirani

Aman King is the younger son of Omar Luther King and Roma King. He is incidentally the grandson of Maulana M. Tayyebulla who was a Minister in the Bardoloi Cabinet in the late forties and early fifties and was thereafter unanimously elected (unopposed) to the Upper House of Indian Parliament for two terms (12 years). Aman, a software developer, used to work for a product engineering company in Delhi called GlobalLogic, and is now working for another company called ThoughtWorks in Pune.

The King (Junior) claimed his Queen, Arpita (nee Mirani) on January 12, 2008 and the two became one. Aman’s better-half holds a high executive post in Satyam at Pune.

Senior Congress leader died in road mishap

Senior Congress leader and former industry minister Dr Anandaram Baruah died as his car rammed into a stranded truck in Guwahati last night.According to information, the incident took place at Christianbasti at around 1-30 AM when he was on his way towards Ganeshguri. Devastating fire in the city

More than 75 houses were left ravaged as a devastating fire broke out at the Paltanbazar based police reserve in Guwahati on Monday morning.According to information, the incident took place at around 9 in the morning following an electric short circuit. KLNLF ultra killed in encounter

A Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) militant was killed in an encounter with army in Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Sunday.According to information, the encounter took place when jawans of 5 Rajputana Rifles intercepted four KLNLF ultras at Langlakso. While one of the militants was killed, the other three managed to escape.One pistol, three rounds of ammunition, one AK-47 magazine with 15 round ammunition were recovered from the slain ultra.

Next Sahitya Sabha session in Dergaon

The Asom sahitya Sabha will hold its 71st biennial session at Dergaon in 2011 while the annual session will be held in Baithalangsu in Karbi Anglong district. This was decided at a meeting of the new executive body presided over by Rong Bong Terang on Sunday.

Asom Sahitya Sabha Dhemaji session underway

Lakhs of people are attending the second day of the 70th Asom Sahitya Sabha session in Dhemaji on Sunday. The second day two of the session began after the flag hoisting by the outgoing president Kanaksen Deka in the morning. This was followed by the inauguration of the book fair by Assam education minister Gautom Bora.
