Gunjan Sharma who was kidnapped by miscreants from Simaluguri on Wednesday has been safely released in the early morning on Thursday. She is a student of class 8th of the Central School, Nazira. She along with other 11 students of her school was abducted by unidentityfied gunman form Simaluguri Madrid Tiniali at 3 PM on Wednesday. SP Sivasagar Bijoy Kuligram and SDPO Nazira Ashif Ahmed launched a massive operation in the Assam Nagaland Border area of Santak Bihubor and found the abducted girl.

Damayanti Rajkumari, mother of the ULFA Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa passed away at her own residence of Lakuwa at 3 AM on Thursday. She was 100 years old. She lefts her three daughters and two sons. Her husband Uma Rajkunwar was a freedom fighter and died couples of years ago. Different organisations condole in the death of Damayanti Rajkumari. An unidentified deadbody of a middle aged women found near Sivasagar Simaluguri road at 4 AM on Thursday. Local residents noticed the deadbody in the morning and informed it to the Cherakapar Police station. Police registered a case in this regard and sent the body to Sivasagar civil hospital for postmartem. Identity of the lady is yet unknown.

Wellknown cyclist of Nazira Anil Mahanta who was trying to achieve the Guinness World Record of covering the greatest distance in 48 hours short lapsed by 660 meters cycling on the bank of historic Barboruah Tank of Nazira from last March 8 to 10 was able to getting his name recorded as cyclist in the India Book of Records.
