In a fresh orgy of attack, the Garo militants shot dead 6 people at Gendpara village on Sunday night. Over 15 others have been injured in the attack. Eyewitness told an Assam Times crew that a group of 6 gunmen reached the village when the local residents were celebrating diwali by lighting lamps and bursting crackers. Immediately after reaching the spot, they started indiscriminate firing at the crowd leaving 6 people died on the spot. Then the militants vanished from the spot. The injured have been rushed to the Goalpara Civil Hospital. The attack is believed to be the fallout of the stiff protest against the proposed Rabha hasong autonomus body polls.
