Ninong Ering visits Tirap

The Union Minister  of State for Minority Affairs Ninong  Ering paid a whirlwind  official tour to Tirap and Longding districts from 11th to 12th July. While addressing the HoDs at the Circuit House, Khonsa on 11th July, Ering lauded the HoDs for staying in their stations and performing their duties sincerely. He told the participants that a number of centrally-sponsored schemes were being implemented in Tirap district which would benefit the local people immensely adding that the state and the central governments were alive to the problems of the district and that special care was taken for all round development of Tirap district. The Minister said that being the Minister for the whole country he had to take care of all the states  and asked the departments to work in an integrated and co-ordinated manner for the success of the schemes. He told the gathering that some new schemes had been approved under his Ministry  for Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts which would be implemented in a phased manner. Parliamentary Secretary Yumsen Matey while welcoming the Minister to Tirap district said that after  Ering took over the charges of Minority Affairs Ministry as State Minister, the funding had improved and asked the executing agencies to utilize the funds judiciously. Matey told the HoDs that the state government had sanctioned opium rehabilitation centers for Tirap, Changlang and Longding. He appreciated the HoDs working in Tirap district for their dedication and sincerity and urged them to work with the same spirit.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Tirap Deputy Commissioner Kamlesh Kumar Joshi said the purpose of the brief meeting was to acquaint the visiting Minister on the schemes being implemented by various departments in the district adding that there were many beneficial schemes under Minority Affairs  Ministry and told the Minister that his officers were leaving no stone unturned to ensure that all the government schemes were implemented successfully. The DC asked the HoDs to interact openly with the Minister  and discuss their problems if any without any hesitation. Later the Minister met the newly elected ZPMs and other public leaders. He also inspected the newly constructed boys’ and girls’ hostel at Khonsa. The meeting was attended by Tirap SP, ADC and HoDs.

The minister also visited Deomali, Longding and Kanubari during his tour. The Minister was received at Deomali by the SDO and public and local MLA Thangwang Wangham  at Longding respectively.  Wangham apprised the Minister on some of the pressing problems of Longding district. At Kanubari WRD Minister Newlai Tingkhatra received the Minister.

An unusual incident occurred on Sunday at Namsang village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, about 12 KM from Deomali, when the labourers of Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) were digging a bore-well. Three persons were killed on the spot in a road accident that occurred near the Tingrai railway station under Digboi police station in upper Assam's Tinsukia district early this morning. The deceased are Gopal Das (42), Bitupan Das (43) and Hemanta Hazarika (28).
