Physiotherapy camp concluded at Guwahati Press Club

Media persons of Guwahati are seemingly prone to various ailments related to pain and many of the working journalists are diagnosed with high blood pressure. A physiotherapy camp, organized by Indian Association of Physiotherapists (Assam branch) for the city based journalists today (June 26) reveals that most of the participants are suffering from cervical pain, low back pain and shoulder pain. Moreover, 35 media persons have been advised for further treatments.

The camp, organized with supports from College of Physiotherapy and Medical Sciences, a unit of Purbanchal Educational Welfare Society and Guwahati Press Club witnessed the participation of nearly 100 media persons.

Dr. Ujwal Bhattacharya, PT, Dr. Pallabi Goswami, PT, Dr. Lopa Das, PT, Dr. Kundan Kumar, PT and Dr. Abhijit Kalita, PT attended the camp and gave consultations on neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, knee & ankle pain with other pain disorders to the journalists. The consultants were assisted by four PG students namely Affrin Zaman, Trishna Das, Taranum Laskar and Namrata Deka with other helpers.

Financial support to Mahanta’s family

The Satyam Foundation has donated a sum of rupees 15000 (fifteen thousand only) to the bereaved family of journalist Hiten Mahanta, who passed away on 29 August 2015 at GNRC hospital (Guwahati six-mile campus). Mahanta was not feeling well for some time. An honest, brave and impartial journalist, Mahanta used to raise voices relentlessly against the separatist militants of the troubled northeast India. The city based media persons and performing artistes have prepared for a friendly football match to generate funds for the flood affected families of Assam. Journalist Hiten Mahanta dead

Senior journalist Hiten Mahanta passed away on Saturday at GNRC (six mile) hospital. The end came at 7.25 in the morning at GNRC Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.Mahanta suffered multiple head injuries as he fell on the road on the morning hours of August 5 at his home locality of Chunchali in the city. He was immediately admitted to the hospital and his condition continued to be critical.Born in 1957, Mahanta completed his education in Guwahati. Senior journalist Hiten Mahanta paased away on Saturday at GNRC (six mile) hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on August 5 and continued to be critical. His last came on 7.30 am of 29 August 2015. Mahanta left behind his wife, two sons and host of relative & well-wishers.Media pepole acrsos the state deeply mourned his premature death and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.   

Friendly football match on I-Day

On the occasion of 69th I-Day, the members of Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) played a friendly football match with the employees of District Transport Office (Kamrup-M) on Saturday at Nehru Stadium.
