Ananya brings glory to Golaghat
Ananya Saikia of Reliance College Junior has brought glory to Golaghat by emerging as a state topper in the Higher Secondary (Arts) examination results declared today. Ananya the daughter of teacher parents Ratneswar Saikia and Debojani Barua has secured a total of 469 marks. She has also secured highest mark (100%) in Economics.
Debojit Dutta, the principal of the college said that the college has been able to secure a position since the last ten years of its inception and they had been expecting Ananya to get a rank in the HS final examination.
“I would like to pursue financial marketing and be a social entrepreneur in the future. I was hopeful of getting a rank but the 1st position came as a pleasant surprise.” Ananya told Assam Times. She owes her credit to her parents her teachers and to god.

Triggering panic among passengers of the Ledo-Guwahati Inter-city Express, Furkating GRP during a routine checking recovered a bag containing explosive that arrived at the Furkating Railway Station in Golaghat at 9.30 p.m. on Thursday. The cache of explosives included 3 nos of Gelatin Stick, 3 nos of Gelatin Gel, 2 electronic detonators, 2 non-electric detonators,9 nos of safety fuse and 500 gram of Amonium Nitrate. The explosives were kept in a reksin bag. While talking to Eastern Chronicle, NR Das, OC of Mariani GRP told that they have some inputs about the explosives being carried in the train. An unidentified dead body of a young man of about 30 years of age was recovered from a railway track near Donbosco School in Golaghat today at around 6.30 am. The body was found wearing a white shirt and a brown trouser. On the other hand another dead body of an unidentified person, aged about 35 years, was found run over by a train on the railway track near Kamarbandha Railway Station at around 10.30 a.m. today.
