Udalguri welcomes Santiuse Kujur's RS nomination

The declaration of Santiuse Kujur, present EM, BTC as the second Congress candidate for ensuing RS election has been welcomed by people of Udalguri district beside others. Santiuse Kujur, a young new face belonging to Adivasi community and an inhabitant of Tangla town of Udalguri district expressed his happiness at his nomination as the second Congress candidate to Rajya Sabha ,from Assam.Talking exclusively to the Assam Times he said that he would represent people of Assam irrespective of caste and community if elected to RS.He further said that being an inhabitant of rural place of Udalguri district,he understood the problems of the rural people of Assam.

Dr. Dipankar Saharia, a leading Congress worker of Assam from Tangla also expressed his happiness at the nomination of Kujur as the Congress candidate for RS election. Dr Saharia told this correspondent that Kujur would do his best for the promotion of economic developement of the people of Assam belonging to backward classes living below poverty line. In the mean time Green Society, Udalguri; Green Valley Forest and Wild Protection Society; Udalguri District Journalist Association; Tangla Press Club; Nagarik Manch, Kalaigaon; Media Circle, Mangaldai etc. have welcomed the nomination of Santiuse Kujur as a candidate of RS from Assam.

In a very tragic and barbaric incident, Puspanjali Das (19)wife of Chandan Debnath of Thakuriapara village under Bhergaon sub-division in Udalguri district has been burnt down alive on Saturday noon for non-payment of marriage dowry. The incident has shocked the district. The lady was put in a sac before thrown in a fire lighted in a heap of hay. Puspanjali was married to Chandan just three months bac. Narayan Debnath, father-in-law of Puspanjali has been arrested while trying to flee but all the family members managed to flee before being caught.
