The villagers alleged that the construction companies have destroyed huge agricultural land as they dump the soil anywhere as they wish ignoring the villagers’ complaint even using the security personals to keep the villagers suppressed. They said they have approached the revenue department of N C Hills Autonomous Council and the NHAI authority at Silchar but till the date nothing was done ease the villagers plight.

It is to be mentioned here that the people Dima Hasao suffered a lot and several families have lost their ancestral land and property for the construction of BG and Mahasarak And at the same time these wanton earth cutting and destruction forest also caused serious threat to environment but the people of Dima Hasao never opposed the construction of the BG and Mahasarak as they want development. Taking the advantage of people’s simplicity, some unscrupulous people have conspired to deprive these innocent, poor people of their right dues.

Talking to this correspondent, Polbanan Naiding of Kapurcherra village said they have time and again approached the Council authority as well as the NHAI authority but their pleas remained unheard. This has forced them to take the path of agitation to fulfill their genuine demands of adequate compensation for the loss of the agricultural land.
