Anti-tobacco bill soon

Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is hopeful that the bill to ban tobacco is on the cards. Dr Sarma informed the Assam assembly on Wednesday that the bill would be moved after cabinet approval.

the govt should inform all the trade bodies what products are banned or what not banned to save the petty traders from the meaningless harassment from the govt officers and so called many organisations. the sale of smoking items should also be banned in the state.

Bangladeshi arrested

Eight Bangladeshi Nationals namely Md Nurnabi (14 yrs) P.S- Nageswari, Kurigram (BD), Ali Rabbani (15 yrs) P.S- Nageswari, Kurigram (BD) and Azab Ali (80) of Fulbari, Kurigram (BD) with his entire family comprising of his wife, 01 daughter and 03 sons from the border area of Seoti under Dinhata police station (WB) at about 0100 hrs today. Anup coming by July 15

ULFA top leader Anup Chetia will be back to his home by July 15. Talking to Assam Times, home ministry sources said in Delhi that diplomatic efforts are in final stage to extradiate the ULFA top leader. The date would be finalized in a day or two. Chetia of late, movea the Bangladesh government to deport him withdrawing his pending plea for political asylum.

ULFA hopeful of Chetia homecoming

Pro-talk ULFA wants Anup Chetia's early extradition to boost the on going peace process. Extradition hope in ULFA peace talk

An early extradition of Anup Chetia is set to dominate yet another peace talk between centre and ULFA in New Delhi on Wednesday. Led by chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, the pro-talk ULFA leaders are expected to mount pressure on the centre to bring the jailed secretary back from Bangladesh. The meeting is scheduled at 11.30 in the morning to be led by union home secretary RK Singh. Notably Chetia, of late, wants not to proceed with political asylum move and wants to be back to home.

Ranjan walks out of jail

NDFB chairman Ranjan Daimary walks free on Sunday two days after he procured bail in all crucial cases. Immediately after walking out of the Guwahati Central jail, Daimary left for his home place Udalguri to be welcomed by the local residents.
