Shradhanjoli to Bhupen Hazarika and Mamoni Roisom at Kalugaon on January 22-23


“Kalugaon Samonoy Sangskritik Samaj” and “Mukul Sahitya Sabha, Shaloguri” are jointly organising a “Shradhanjoli” programme of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Dr. Mamoni Roisom Goswami at Kalugaon Girls High School on January 22-23. There will be competition of fine-arts, bhupendra sangeet and recitation of poetry with two sections in two days event.


On first day, the famous play “Shukunir Pratishudh” of late Ganesh Gogoi, and on the 2nd day, “Angikar” by late Prafulla Bora will be staged.


This is disclosed by the secretary of the organising committee, Nironjon Barua.

Dillibari Gaon Panchayat, under Tingkhong development block has laid the foundation stone of gravel road in the Amarjyoti Arandhara, the secretary general of Tai Ahom National Council on Monday at Ghahi Pathar, under MNREGA scheme. The total length of the road will be 6.5 kilometer and it will cost about 4 lakh. One Babul Gogoi (12) died in a mishap at Santak-Gorchuk, Simoluguri on Saturday. The mishap occured when the deceased was collecting money for a Bihu Sonmilon, organised locally at Kenduguri. The boy with his friends was collecting of money from vehicles plying on the Romoni Ali, which connects Simoluguri and Naginimora. When they tried to stop a dumper coming towards Simoluguri who refused to stop and the members tried to stop the vehicle forcefully. According to eye witness, the deceased climbed up on the vehicle to stop it. After runing few distance the vehicle slipped away from the road and the deceased came under the Vehicle and died on the spot.

Foundation stone of anti-erosion protection scheme at Dikhow river, near Achala Pathar-Dihingia Gaon, was laid down by Rajib Luson Pegu, Water Resource Minister of Assam. The total estimate for this scheme is Rs.6.80 crore. According to the technical specification, 500 meters dyke with modern geo-tube technology and 1300 meters embankment will be constructed under this scheme.
