Anti-tobacco bill soon

Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is hopeful that the bill to ban tobacco is on the cards. Dr Sarma informed the Assam assembly on Wednesday that the bill would be moved after cabinet approval.

the govt should inform all the trade bodies what products are banned or what not banned to save the petty traders from the meaningless harassment from the govt officers and so called many organisations. the sale of smoking items should also be banned in the state.

Union minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar’s daughter in law is believed to have died of cardiac arrest.According to information, Lija Ghatowar, the wife of Pranjal Ghatowar was rushed to the Sanjeevani Hospital in Dibrugarh after she was found unconscious inside her room in the evening. But the hospital authorities declared her brought dead.Pranjal married Lija only a few months back. Ghatowar is arriving in his residence on Wednesday. A pall of gloom has descended in the area following the sudden and premature death of the Union minister.
Suspected NDFB-S militants unleashed a reign of terror in Chirang district when they kidnapped a businessman from Runikhata on Tuesday.Sources told Assam Times that identified as Anup Das, the 40 year old businessman was kidnapped at gunpoint from his residence in the afternoon.Search operation is in progress to trace out him. In a bizarre move, BPF candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha poll Biswajeet Daimary has lodged a complaint against independent candidate Haidor Hussain alleging an attempt to prevent a section of opposition legislators from voting in his favour in the upcoming polls.Daimary called on returning officer Gauranga Prasad Das on Tuesday in Dispur where he filed the complaint demanded cancellation of the opposition consensus candidate’s nomination.The BPF leader on Monday publicly alleged that a Hussian told a section of AGP, BJP and AIUDF MLAs not to vote Daimary.
