Guwahati will witness the biggest Musical extravaganza in the coming 2nd Guwahati International Music Festival, organized by Eastern Beats Music Society. More than 200 musicians including musicians from five countries to perform in the three day event to be held from 23rd to 25th November, in Silpagram, Guwahati.
EBMS secretary and creative director, Ayushman Dutta, says that “There is something for everyone at the festival from Indian Classical to Jazz, from Folk to Rock, from Ghazal to Baul and so on, apart musical workshop and National Rock Competition for lesser known musicians.” Day long Musical seminars will also be a part of the festival.
Well known musicians of International repute like Bikram Ghosh, Gerg Ellis (USA), Harrish Khan (Afghanistan), Mac Haque (Bangladesh), Snehasish Mozumder and SOM (New york), Padmabhusan Pt. Buddhadev Das Gupta, Ralf Kamphuis (Germany), Rishi Chowdhury (UK),Pt. Gopal Mishra will all be featuring in the Musical festival.
The festival is being organized with the support of Assam Tourism and in collaboration with NEZCC,Ministry of Culture,Govt. of India,ITC Sangeet Research Academy,Royal Stag Cassettes and Cds, Kingesberg and NEEPCO.
Like last year the EBMS, will had over the Eastern Beats Excellence in Music Award to three pioneering musicians of the North East for their life time contribution in the field of music and preservation of culture.Last year the society awarded Tangkhul Folk Musicologist Guru Rewben Mashangva the excellence award.
The first edition of GIMF was held last year, basically conceptualised to fulfill the need for a premier music festival in the region, the mega confluence of musicians and artists from around the world last year had been able to showcase the best of the regional, National and International Talents.GIMF also helps in initiating cross-cultural dialogue among people and artists of the region with those from other parts of the country and the world.
