The Gorkha Sports & Cultural Organisation, Dima Hasao, Haflong organized ‘Teej festival’ was celebrated here at Haflong Kalibari premises on Sunday with great enthusiasm and traditional fervor.
Teej Festival is basically celebrated by the women folk of Nepali community all over the country. This festival is also considered as the prime festival of the Nepali community.
During the festival, the women folk observe fast and perform traditional song & dance appreciating Lord Shiva and Goddes Parbati . The young women enjoyed the festival dressed with colorful attire and buying colorful glass bangles.
Sri Kalijay Sengyung, Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council attended the festival as the chief guest and Sri M R Jaishi, Deputy Chairman of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council attended as the guest of honour .
This was followed by the cultural programme by Nepali Sanskriti Parishad , Nutan Basti.
