he AKRSU-sponsored hunger strike for a separate Kamatapur has crossed seventy five hours but nobody from the Tarun Gogoi cabinet has come to them. Going by the Sunday news, some doctors were rushed to the protesters. They alleged that on Monday the government tried to end the strike through negotiation with the Kamrup metro administration and NCP leaders.
However, AGP and AUDF presidents along with some other parties and organiosations have rushed to the protest site and expressed thier soliderity.
The doctors attended the protesters again on Monday morning.
But till now no representative from the ruling party is there to take stock of the situation. On the other hand, lower Assam commissioner VSL Vasaba, Kamrup metro deputy commissioner Pratik Hajela and headquerter sub divisional officer Chandra Kamal Bhuyan came to the site.
On the other hand, several political leaderts rushed to the protesters from Monday morning to visit the striking Koch Rajvbanshi student leaders. They include former AGP ministers Rekha Rani Das Boro, Biraj Kumar Sarma. During Moreover, Tankeswar Rabha from the All Assam Rabha Students Union, MASS adviser, AJYCP adviser Dilip Patgiri also visited the protesters. The AARSU president said that the Rabhas will not object to the ST status fore the Korch Rajbanshis in the Rabha Hasong council areas.
Asom Gana Parishad president Brindaban Goswami along with Sabda Rabha, Queen Ujha, Apurba Bhattacharjee rushed to the striking AKARSU leaders.
AUDF president Badariddin Ajmal, his associate Basir Ahmed Kasimi and former minister Aminul Islam also visited the protesters and supported the cause.
They alleged gross injustice for the minorities by the Congress. AKARSU president Biswajit Rai has alleged that the government is shying away from steps to solve the problem and and instead has a conspiracy to end the strike through negotiation with NCP and districgt administration.

The Koch Rajvanshis have the legal right to demand a separate state according 2 the bond of '49, between Ind govt. & the King of Kamatapur. "Kamatapur will be constructed as a "C" catagorised state"- it was in the conditions of the bond. State administration is not showing any honour 2 the honourable High court also. Thats why AKRSU have taken the highest attempt for their legal and appropriate demand.

Stages have been set to airlift a rhinoceros to a national sanctuary after the rare animal reached Sualkuchi in the outskirt of Guwahati.The full grown rhinoceros is believed to have strayed from the Pobitora sanctuary which is being guarded around the clock against poachers with an IAF helicopter. Fresh incidents of violence gripped Dima Hasao distirct after the district administration relaxed curfew in Haflong on Monday.Supporters of the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Poples Forum turned violent where policemen were attacked in Haflong town. Bandh supporters pelted stones at security forces at Mahadev Tilla and Harangajao. Policemen on duty were forced to fire rubber bullets to disperse the mob.Some NCIPF activists came out into the streets in Haflong during the curfew relaxation period and set on fire a bike at Kalibari Road. The ravaging inferno at an ONGC-owned plants in Titabor on Friday mires in controversy. ONGC authorities blamed technical fault resulting in the fire that left reduced properties worth crores of rupees to ashes. But ULFA’s anti-talk claimed to have blown up the plant alleging that the attack would continue. In an e-mail statement, the outfit claimed to have blown up the plants. An ULFA militant was killed and two policeman have been seriously injured at an encounter in Tinsukia district on Saturday. The encounter took place at Bordumgsa when ULFA militants faced security forces on patrolling duty resulting in a fierce firing in the evening. ULFA militants lobbed a grenade in which one policeman was injured and he was admitted to Assam Medical College Hospital at Dibrugarh. Then the militants managed to escape.
National Human Rights Commission has registered one more case in connection with the murder of PhD scholar from Assam Pritam Bhattacharjee at Naugachia railway station in Bihar.
The case was registered after Silchar district bar association appealed to NHRC to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. The NHRC has registered the suit, its assistant registrar (legal cell) informed the bar association secretary Champak Dutta. Bhattacharjee, who hails from Silchar had boarded the Assam-Avadh Express from Guwahati on July 8 and went missing from Naugachia station the next day.
