Gogoi comes up with steps to check infiltration

Boxed by circumstances, the Assam government has come up with a slew of measures to deal with the infiltration from across the porous Indo-Bangla border. These include detention camp in the border areas and finger-printing of the Bangladeshis.

Addressing a pres conference on Friday in Guwahati, Chief minister Tarun Gogoi said the government will set up two foreigner detention camps along the Bangladesh border. He said similar camps would also come up in Mancachar in Dhubri district and Mohisasur in Karimganj district for those declared immigrants by the detection tribunals.

Gogoi said a central team on border management which visited the boundaries in Kariumganj district has suggested some steps which include finger-printing, Finger-printing would be done at the passport checking and immigration centres, said the Chief Miniser adding that the passport offices would get more strength with online facilities.

He said his government will further set up a second line of defence in the 270 km of porous border.

Serial blast: Talking to the reporters, Gogoi said 15 persons have been arrested for directly involving with the blasts and that the investigation is in progress.
Poll pact: Gogoi has made it plain and simple that right now there is no possibility of poll pact with Congress and AUDF and termed the confabulation as a baseless one.

The Chief Minister also make some acerbic remark on BJP for trying to communalise the serial blast case by inciting the post-blast situation in Guwahati.
