Mahanta hints at support to Sangma

Asom Gana Parishad on Thursday backed NCP leader PA Sangma in the presidential polls slated for July. Talking to reporter in Guwahati on Thursday, party president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said that they would back a tribal from the north east as President.


Mahanta, the two time former Assam chief minister told reporters that no formal decision has been taken and that the picture would emerge when the poll notification would be issued. AGP has one member in Lok Sabha and two in Rajya Sabha, besides 10 MLAs in Assam assembly.
