Encounter stop Karbi hills: KPLT top leader, 4 others killed


Altogether five hardcore KPLT militants were killed and two others were arrested during a fierce gunbattle in Karbi Anglong district on Friday.


The encounter took place in the wee hours at Borpung village under Chokihali police outpost in the district. A joint team police and para military forces cordoned off the area where the encounter took place. Five died on the spot while two others have been arrested. One of the slain militants was identified as the Karbi militant outfit’s general secretary Nirlip Inghy. Police have claimed it as the biggest successful operation against KPLT militants in recent past. The security forces have also recovered two AK-56 rifles, two carbines, two pistols, ammunition, one radio set and one wireless set from the slain militants.
