Sub Junior Hand Ball Championship concludes at Maibang
The 17th All Assam Sub-Junior Inter dist Handball Championship for the year 2012 was held at Dishru Cultural Club Playground, Maibang from 27th March to 30th March 2012. Altogether 30 teams from 17 districts Boys team 18 and girls team 13 participated in the championship. The Championship was played in the memory of Girindra Sharma, a great player handball player of Assam for boys and girls’ Trophy was in the memory of Bhadreswar Bodosa, a renowned educationist of Assam and social worker.
Mr. Dilip Nunisa, chairman DHD attended the inaugural function as the Chief Guest while the Assam State Handball Association Sr. Vice President Mr. Sambhu alongwith the General Secretary Mr. Gautam Chaoudhury and other officials were present in the Opening Ceremony as guests of honour.
On the 30th of March 2012 Finals were played between Guwahati vs Sibsagar for boys and Sibsagar vs Tinsukia for girls. Mr. Debojit Thaosen, Chief Executive Member of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council was the Chief Guest in the Final match. Mr. M. Nath SDO (Civil) of Maibang Civil Sub-division was also present on the occasion. Many distinguished persons of Maibang Locality were present to enjoy the Finals.
For boys: Sibsagar boys team defeated the Guwahati team to lift the Boys Champinship trophy
For Girls: Sibsagar girls team defeated the Tinsukia girls and became the winner team.
The trophies were handed over to the captains of the runner’s up and champion by the Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Sri Debojeet Thaosen, Smt Poli Bodosa, wife of Bhadreswar Bodosa, M. Nath, SDO( C ) Maibang and J L Jidung, former EM, DHAC.

In a joint operation, one Laksham Lobongdisa, active cadre of Dimasa National Liberation Force was apprehended by 9 Madras and Assam Police at Maibang on Wednesday.It is learnt that a group of three members of DNLF had come to Maibang market to extort money from businessmen, the security personals after a chase apprehended one of there members while two others managed to escape from the security net.
