International Women Day observed at Nazira

International Women Day observed by NGO Pragati and Pragoti Mahila Mancha at Nazira Natya Mandir on March 8. In this occation a seminer was held on "Epual Rights of Women". Manika Saikia former vice principal of Sivasagar College, Nondeshwari Buraguhain, Advocate Ajit Hazarika, Mintu Borah, Sonjiv Borah etc. were presesent. Four senior Women and two distinguished persons were felicitated in the function.

The National Press Day was colourfully observed by the civil administration of Nazira at the conference hall of Nazira sub division on Wdnesday. In this occation an open discussion were held on 2P.M.on the theam of "Media as an instrument of Public Accountability". A large numbers of local reporters including Bhashkarjyoti Borgohain of Dainik Janambhumi, Natwar Sarmah of Purbanchal Prohori, Dilip Hazarika of JANAHADHARAN,Debojit Sarmah of Agradoot, Jayanta Baruah of Janahadharan, Syed khairul Hassan of Assam Times and sub divisional public relation officer Mr.Richand Ahmed were also took part in the discussion.
Namsaijan watershed management project was launched on last October 14 2011 at Nazira sub division. This project will cover 23 revenue villages of Ramoni, Rohdoi, Bantung and Simaluguri Gaon Panchayats. The project will complete at a total cost 4 crore 20 lakh rupees. Dr. Hemoprova Saikia, Chairman of Assam Tourisim devlopment Corporation inaugurated the programme by lighting up a lamp. Inaugurating the project local M.L.A. Debobrot Saikia expressed his happiness over sanction of the scheme and thanked the Union and State Govt.
Local correspondent of a television channel of Lakuwa and organising secretary of the Simaluguri Press Guild Bipin Hazarika was attacked by two unidentifyed gunmen on his way home at 9.30 p.m. on September 24. According to information, while Hazarika was on his way home by his motorcycle on Lakuwa-Rajgarh road suddenly two young men came on a blue coloured motorcycle and forced him to stop. They misbehaved and try to shoot with a pistol. Fortunately at the same time an oil tanker came and the miscreants flead away by threatining him to kill within 15 days. Hazarika filled an FIR at Simaluguri police station in this regard and investigation is going on.
Gargaon college of Sivasagar district will organize the 20th Tanu Kunwar Memoial Annual All Assam Inter College Debating competition on September 28, 2011. The topic of the competition is: ‘Corruption in all walks of life can be weeded out only by enacting a powerful act in force’. Late Tanu Kunwar was the founder principal of Gargaon College and former MLA of Nazira constituency.
In support of t Gandhian leader Anna Hazara, mass movement against corruption is going on in different places of Sivasagar, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Golaghat districts of upper Assam. Large numbers of people including senior citizens and freedom fighters are taking part in hunger strike, fasting in support of Jana Lokpal Bill.
Alongwith the rest of the country the 64th Independence Day has been peacefully observed in different parts of Sivasagar district with traditional glory & flavour. At Sivasagar, main programme were held at Bording Field with a day-long programme. At Nazira, central ceremonial function were held at Nazira Playground.
The ONGCL, Assam Asset continued to remain upbeat when it comes to achiving all the targets in the first quarter of the current fiscal (2011-2012) inspite of several diffulties. The Assam Asset is one of the oldest assets in ONGC with a very high rate of reservers depletion, has been able to over achive all the targets in 1st quarter of the current year except for gas sales which suffered a minor set back due to the lack of consumers.Expressing his satisfaction this is disclosed by B.K.Barua, Executive Director of the Assam asset, in a Press Meet on last August 10. 28th all Assam Inter district Tae-kwon-do championship and 1st all Assam Inter district Poomsae Tae-kwon-do Championship will be held at Rohiteswar Saikia Memorial Indoor Stadium, Nazira from July 27 to 30. A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of MLA Debobrat Saikia.
People of Nazira sub-division are suffering due to insufficient numbers of doctors at Nazira subsidiary health centre. This centre was established during the British rule in 1944 and is one of the oldest hospital of the Sivasagar district. Although departmently it is a SHC, it acts as a full-fledged hospital for the people of Nazira. At present, only 2 doctors are serving here instead of allotted 3 nos. Nurses and other staff are also not sufficient. Despite t existence of several PHCs in the sorrunding areas of Nazira, like Panibill, Kheluwa, Patsaku, Santok, Tengapukhuri, Namti etc. people of these areas came to this hospital hoping for better treatment.
In the last asssembly election, the Asom Gana Parished was unable to get a single seat in upper Assam along with other 12 district of Assam. Under Golaghat district - Sarupather, Bokakhat, Khumtai and Golaghat LACs are captured by the INC. It is mentionalbe that the Golaghat is the birth place of AGP. In Jorhat district all 6 LACs are own by the congress. In Sivasagar all 6 LACs, in Dibrugar 6 out of total 7 LACs and in Tinsukia district 4 out of 5 LACs were gone to the Congress Party. In entire Upper Assam only Dibrugar and Dumduma LAC own by the opposition BJP. AGP lost in Sarupather, Khumtai, Dergaon, Amguri, Tingkhang, which were in their hand after the Assembly election of 2006. In...
