The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), Dima Hasao District Committee, extended its full support to the cause of the Bandh in Dima Hasao district from 7th March, 2012 onwards called by Dimasa Students Union (D.S.U.), Dimasa Women Society (DWS) and Dimasa Mothers’ Association (DMA) against the application of the norms of TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) in Dima Hasao district, stated a press release issued by its President, Rathindra Thaosen today.
The release maintained that the ASDC District Committee also protest strongly about the application of TET in the hill district, reiterating its demand that unless the Assam Govt. yielded to the genuine aspiration of the people of Dima Hasao district that application of such norms of TET be withdrawn in Dima Hasao district, the ASDC party unit will also continue its democratic agitation against such application of norms in the hill district. The ASDC Dima Hasao District Committee states that although the party unit is against bandh culture, the ASDC has been compelled to strongly support the said Bandh considering the agitation on such vital issues. The ASDC party also said that, rather than standardization of teaching and education in Dima Hasao district, application of TET in Dima Hasao district amounts to a policy which is not only the denial of job opportunities to the local people of Dima Hasao district but also against the provisions of Sixth Schedule of Indian Constitution in terms of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, as per the paragraph 3A with its sub-paragraph (1) and its clause (d) [and as per paragraph 12] of Sixth Schedule of Indian Constitution.
