Nagaon Fishery Office building inaugurated

The newly constructed Nagaon district fishery office nearby the Nagaon district police reserve was formally inaugurated on December 12 by the Minister of Fishery, Basanta Das at a function wherein Dr Durllav Chamua, MLA, Nagaon LAC; Pijush Hazarika, MLA, Raha LAC and other officials of the district and the State government took part.


Inaugurating the new office building, the Minister said that Nagaon district has numourous beels, rivers, wetlands and private fisheries including Morikalang, Erakalang and Morakalang, which could take fishery cultivation in the district to a new height. He assured all kinds of help to the fish farmers of Nagaon district so that the district can export fish to other parts of the country very soon.


He also said that scientific fish markets would be established in each and every district of Assam within a short time.


In the meeting, MLA Dr Durlav Chamua, DC Dr Angamuthu and the Commissioner of Fishery Department, Assam also spoke and appealed to the Fishery Minister to take up different projects for fish farming in the district.


Prior to this meeting, the Minister inaugurated Assam's first ' Ornamentel Fish Aquarium' at Raha in Jongal Balahu Garh Fish Farm.
