Media Trust is organizing a four-day national workshop-cum-training on ‘Preservation and Digital Conservation Methods of Newspapers, Magazines and Archival Materials’ with reference to the Northeast India’ in collaboration with National Library and Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, both in Kolkata and under the Ministry of Culture from November 21-24 at Rupnagar in Guwahati.
According to the trust officials a limited number of library professionals and archivists will be selected for the workshop. Resource persons from National Library, Kolkata, renowned library scientist Prof KS Raghavan, DRTC, Bangalore; Dr Harishchandra, IIT, Chennai, Prof AS Chandel, NEHU, Shillong will attend the workshop.
The course would be practical-oriented with hands-on-experience along with available materials of retrospective collection.
The Media Archives-cum-National Reference Library on the Northeast instituted by Media Trust, Assam has started collection of retrospective issues of the old magazines and newspapers published from Assam and also documents related to the Northeast.
