563rd birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev observes at Langhin Tiniali


With the rest of different places of the State the 563rd birth anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev celebrated with gaiety in many places of Langhin and Eradighal Pani, Howraghat in Karbi Anglong.


In may be mentioned that different castes and communities of entire Langhin and Howraghat area supported the two-day-long birth anniversary celebration programme of Srimanta Sankardev that organized by the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Selawar Anchalik at Langhin Tiniali here on Friday.


According to programme, the birth anniversary celebration programme of Srimanta Sankardev started with lighting of earthen lamp and ‘Gandha bandana’ at 5 pm in the evening on Thursday. On 7 October, the programme begun with prayer in early the morning and at 8 am the flag of the Sangha unfurled by Debakanta Bora, president, Srimanata Sankardev Sangha, Selawar Anchalik.


On the other hand, keeping in connection with the birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev ‘Bhagawat’ procession was also carried out by the crowd devotees starting along the NH-36 and later moved to Dokmoka, Parokhowa, Howraghat and Bakaliaghat.


On the occasion, a religious cultural night will also be hold tonight. Especially, a religious drama ‘Ram Bijay’ composed by the great saint Srimanta Sankardev to be shown at night by the cultural group of Shatria Sanskritik, Kaliabar represented by Udayan Das. The religious cultural night will be inaugurated by Jatil Hazarika, president, Srimanata Sankardev, Bakaliaghat Anchalik.
