Non-Karbis demand Govt-UPDS to make charter of demands public

The non-Karbi organizations comprising different student bodies of Karbi Anglong district demanded the Central-State government and ceasefire UPDS outfit organization to make the charter of demands public.

The Garo Students’ Union, Gorkha Students’ Union, Bokajan District Demand Committee (BDSC), surrendered ANLA including the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) said that non-Karbis are not against the UPDS peace accord which is under process to be signed with the Central-State government. Rather they are ready to welcome the proposed substantial peace sign that going to be accorded in near future with the government. But, some doubts of cloud are prevailing among the non Karbis over the some inconsiderate clause of demands and for keeping clandestine the charter of demands. Here government and UPDS should initiate to reconsider immediately in order to modify the inconsiderate clause of demands for the greater integrity of different non Karbi aboriginal castes and communities of the district, the non Karbi organizations said.

On the other hand, the ABSU including Boro frontal organizations express serious concerned through a press release over the continuing harassment by the police administration over the innocent people. The press release stated that the ABSU also supported the 24 hours Karbi Anglong band called by non Karbi organizations last October 21 in protest of the inconsiderate clause of demands submitted by the UPDS. During the band-hour some unexpected incident happened by some unidentified miscreants in several places. But in the name of searching the miscreants the police are targeting the ABSU activists and common innocent people. The student organization along with Bodo frontal organizations urged the police administration to stop immediately the continuing harassment activities over innocent people.

Besides, the student organization expressed grief over the instigating role displayed by the Karbi Students’ Association (KAS) by pestering no bandh against the 24-hour Karbi Anglong band called by non Karbi organizations on October 21. Such anti-Karbi activities may hurt the historic bond of integrity of Karbi and nons Karbis, the release added.

The Bodo student body urged the KSA to engage in constructive nation building activities for the greater interest of peace and integrity eschewing their furious thoughts against the brotherhood communities of the district.

Meanwhile, condemning strongly against the brutal killing of Langtuk Killing, president of Karkanthi Mnadal Congress committee and aspirant Congress candidate of Karkanthi MAC constituency by suspected armed militant on Saturday at Chirplak Rongpi village under Samelangso police station, the ABSU defined this act of coward. The student organization appealed to all to stand together against the ongoing anti social elements in the district.
