Dima Hasao People flay Govt for non-posting of Govt Officials
The conscious citizen of Dima Hasao while criticizing the Government for its utter failure to fill up more than 240 posts of Government officials in 24 departments in the district, appealed not to consider the district of Dima Hasao as the place of punishment posting or a dumping ground of inefficient officials.
Most of the important departments like PWD, PHE, Social Welfare, and Education etc. are running without the head of the department. Even the post of Deputy Secretary in the Autonomous Council is lying vacant for a long time. All the four blocks out of five, are running with BDO in charge that too Junior Engineers etc. It is really matter grave concern of the people of Dima Hasao that Dispur never pay any heed to their appeal and for the people
There has been a common saying ‘people are not willing to come to this district for the reasons best known to them only’ but there have been plenty of examples that once the people come to this district never want to get transferred from this district. Many of government officials are holding as many as three posts at a time. Even the principal of the Haflong Govt. College is not a full-fledged for a long time. There are also some officers who have been here for than 15 to 20 years and never being transferred as they blessed by Dispur. People argued if the people are not willing to come then why some officials are reluctant to get transferred from this district.
Earlier, there have been common pleas—insurgency, bad road etc. but even after the return of peace following the surrender of DHD(J) the government has failed to send officials in various developmental departments resulting to sufferings of poor and innocent people of the district.
Meanwhile, the chief executive member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Sri Debojeet Thaosen apprised the Chief Secretary, Govt of Assam, Sri Naba Kumar Das during his visit to Haflong recently about the shortage of government full-fledged officials in the district and requested him to consider the matter as early as possible. It is learnt that Sri Das, during his visit to Haflong on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Haflong Government College inspected the college campus and realized the poor infrastructural condition of the Haflong Govt College.
