Poll preparedness for 11th NCHAC

The Returning Officer as well as Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao District Barun Bhuyan appealed to the media persons to extend their cooperation to the district administration in conducting free, fair and peaceful election to the NC Hills Autonomous Council on Saturday. The election to the 11th NCHAC is scheduled to be held on May 20th, 2013 next. Bhuyan was briefing the media regarding the elaborate arrangement for smooth and peaceful conduct of the election at his office chamber, where in most of the representatives of print and electronic media were present. He disclosed that election to all the 28 constancies of the DHAC to be held in single phase and 1,21,178 (Male 61244+ female 59934) will exercise their franchise on May 20th  in as many 200 polling stations which are divided into 10 Zone and 70 sectors through ballot.

Answering the question of the media persons, Bhuyan said among 200 polling stations 90 considered to be very sensitive, 64 sensitive and 46 P Stations are to be comparatively safe.  He further said it is for the first time the election to the Autonomous Council is being conducted by the State Election Commission, which is an independent body, the earlier, the government used to conduct the election to the Autonomous Councils. Regarding the security arrangement said the district administration has already demanded more security personals which is expected to reach Dima Hasao very soon he has apprised all the political party regarding the code of conduct and requested them not to violate the code of conduct because this time ‘we are very tough, no one will be spared if found violating the code of conduct of the election
