Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Nagaon in association with Gram Vikas Parishad a premier state level NGO observed International Literacy Day on September 8 with a day long programme. The bouquet of activities were started by a tree plantation programme at the premises of Gram Vikas Parishad's Head Office at Rangaloo, followed up by devotional song presentation and drawing competition among the school children. An open session was also convened in relation with the programme where more than 500 people took part along with several invited dignitories of the district. The session was conducted by Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, JSS, Nagaon & General Secretary, Gram Vikas Parishad, who also explained the significance of this day's observation. The successful competitors of different events held were awarded with certificates and prizes at the end of the session. An exhibition cum sale stall was also inaugurated by Pradip Kumar Baruah, Asst. Instructor, M&SEC, Jorhat, under Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India on this day where various attractive handicrafts items made by the trainees of JSS, Nagaon were showcased. Some of the distinguished guests present in this occasion were Ayub Ali, Asst. Manager, DICC, Jiten Hazarika, Principal, Kathiatoli H. S. school, Mitul Basumatary, B. M., Axis Bank, Ridip Baparnash, B. M., HDFC Bank, and Maijuddin Ahmed, Sub-Inspector, Rangaloo Police Outpost and other dignitories, social worker etc.
In addition an Ex-trainees meet of Jan Shikshan Sansthan was also held where suggestions were given by different dignitories for further employment and marketing of their products.
