Pillion riding banned in Barpeta

The district Magistrate of Barpeta Phanidhar Kalita by an order has promulgated section 144 crpc in the entire Barpeta town, Barpeta Road town, Pathsala Town and Howly town banning on moving two persons on two wheeler vehicles. However the ban will not be applicable for police personnel and govt officers having Identity Card. This ban was forced from Aug 3.

Noted litteratuer, writer, ex-president of Barpeta Xahitya Xabha Chittaranjan Choudhury (70), retired head of the Dept of Assamese, Kokrajhar College was passed away today. Fifth bi-ennial Conference and 27th foundation day of Barpeta Press club held

The 5th bi-ennial conference and 27th foundation day orf Barpeta press club was held recently at Barpeta Press club premises with two days long programme. Literary organization Shipa formed at Barpeta

A literary-cultural organisation was formed at pub-Barpeta area recently with members from 20 villages of that area. An executive committee was formed under the presidentship of Brajen Talukdar as president, Mathura Deka as working president, Somnath Talukdar as Vice President, Kamalesh Baishya as Secretary and Kishore Shivam as Joint Secretary. Dead Body found in Barpeta Road

One dead body was recovered at Manipuri Basti railway line at Barpeta Road railway station last night at about 12.30 pm. The deceased was identified as Billal Hussain, son of Mujjafar Ali of Manipuri basti railline. The family members claimed it as a pre-planned murder. The brother of the deceasedsaid that one Abu Bakkar Siddique threatened his brother on that day with some of his persons namely Rafiqul Islam (Raju), Aijul, Jalauddin and Mainul. The brother of Billal suspected Abu Bakkar behind this murder. Barpeta Road railkway station police rushed to the spot immediately and investigation is going on.
