21st July, Barpeta Mayhem has completed one year
21st July, 2010 - a memorable day for the Barpeta. Barpeta Mayhem has completed one year. On that very day Barpeta District AAMSU protest demanding the correct NRC up gradation and to stop the Pilot project. Last year about 150 people were injured in police lathi charge. Mentionable that in the name of that protest march of AAMSU a group of people had destroyed the properities of some business centres as well as the hoardings of the DC office, burnt some vehicles and attacked locals by the picketers. As a result of that mayhem four persons had to lose their lives and 150 others injured and have been suffering till date.
In this regard AAMSU has organized a memorial meet at the premises of H.K. Junior College, Khandakarpara (Sailta) on Thursday with a day long programme in the memory of the four departed soul and for the recovery of the seriously injured. An open session was also held under the Presidentship of Abdur Rahim Khan. Addressing in the meet Dr. Dilip Bora, Editor, Gana Adhikar said that no other party or organizations demanded the punishment of the 21st july involved persons till the arrest of Akhil Gogoi on June 22. After the arrest of Akhil Gogoi the people of Assam suddenly awoke and started demanding the arrest of culprit of 21st July Barpeta mayhem. Addressing in the meet MLA Chandan Sarkar said that the minorities of Assam had to sacrifice their lives by giving blood for the sake of their right. The minorities of Assam are very selfish. And wanted to become leader with the help of others. The Mobile Health Unit under NRHM was opened here at Barpeta today to provide the health service to the deprived people of the district. Two dacoits were killed in an encounter at Jalakura bridge at Keotkuchi, about 4 km from Barpeta yesterday night. According report, a group police personnel headed by the ASP, DSP and TSI of Barpeta got information about the dacoits and they are awaiting for them at that place. As soon as they arrived the police try to catch them, but the encounter took place between the police and the dacoits. As a result two dacoits were killed and other fled away. A pistol, a deggar and a mobile handset were recovered from them. The dead dacoits were not identified till now.
The DSP of Barpeta Sushanta Biswa Sarma with the police personnel of Barpeta and Kalgachiya i/c recovered fake notes worth Rs.11500 of 500 denominations from a one Alam Ali of Madrasapara of Kokila outpost in Barpeta district yesterday. The money was recovered at Barvitha near Kalgachiya. According to report, the business of fake currency was on going during last few days in the entire district.
