Nagaon Traffic Police acting on a tip off recovered a huge quantity of High Quality Manipuri Ganja in a raid at NH 36 near Oriyagaon in Nagaon on Wednesday and apprehended two persons namely Lokendra Singh, Subash Chandra both said to be resident of Imphal.
The Drug was hidden beneath the seats and even the disel tank of the vehicle.
The Ganja was being carried from Imphal to Guwahati to be delivered to one Mustafa of Patna according to the accussed.
The Ganja was being brought in a Mahendra SUV Bearing a government of India mark on the number plate.
The value of the Ganja is believed to be more than 30 lakh in the market.
The Officer Incharge Jitendra singh said:
Around 3.30 pm my subordinate Kabir Singh Limbu of Nagaon Trafic Policegot the Information. Then we made two teams and setup at oriyagaon and when the vehicle came we are able to stop the vehicle at the chowk.
They have put up the Govt. of India Number Plate so that no body can suspect them, even they are carrying the number Plates of Nagaland, Manipur, West Bengal and Assam Govts. After questioning they have confessed that they have carried approx 200 k.g of Ganja.
This is one of the biggest haul of the banned drug that has been recoverd by the Police in recent times.
