World Milk Day celebrated at South Point School

World Milk Day-2011 was celebrated at South Point School in association with (School Health Annual Report Programme (Sharp), a non-government organization. The aim of the event was to promote milk as fun drinks among school children and consume other milk products. The programme started with a welcome speech by Sharp Ngo co-ordinator Bably Hazarika followed by other guest. The awareness on the importance of milk was stressed upon by Tina, Nutritionist of Sharp. To mark “World Milk Day” Sharp organized a drawing competition and the best three entries given prizes.


“Our objective is to create awareness among the school children about milk and its nutritional facts which is important for growing up” said Shikha Kalita (Project officer, Sharp). Around 800 students participated in the program supported by Purabi Dairy a local milk company. Ms. Shanti Lisham, Dy. Manager (Purabi Dairy) said Purabi dairy believes in milk for a healthy body & mind. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Sanjiv Bora (State co-ordinator) Sharp.

This is really a good effort to aware school children about the value of milk. Now a day we all giving less focus to milk and looking more on fizzy drinks which has consequence effects to our growth and development both physically and mentally. Great job done by you guys in the field of awareness.

The project aims  to bring awareness among the school going children and healthy behaviours.
