National seminar on law held at NEF Law College

NEF Law College, a front ranking law institute of North East region affiliated to Gauhati University organized a National level seminar on ‘Professional Ethics and Advocacy’ and ‘Legal Techniques on the conservation of Energy and Preservation of Natural Resources ‘ on April 30 at the colleges premises. The inaugural programme started with the lighting of the lamp by Hon’ble Justice Dr. Mukunda Kam Sharma, Judge, Supreme Court of India who was also the chief guest of the programme. Zakir Hussain, Director of the college welcomed the gathering and Dr. Ruma Bordoloi, Principal, NEF Law College highlighted the achievements of the college and also the relevance and importance of the seminar. A National Law Journal ‘Journal of Judicial and Social Science’ was also inaugurated at the function by Hon’ble Justice Amitava Roy, Judge, Gauhati High Court.


The 1st Technical session of the Seminar in ‘Professional Ethics and Advocacy’ was taken by Hon’ble Justice Mukunda Kam Sharma, Judge, Supreme Court of India. He highlighted the significance of ethics in every profession. He also emphasized on the fact that every person of legal field must be devoted and dedicated to their duty. Niloy Dutta, Advocate General of Arunachal Pradesh, delivered an illustrious speech emphasizing the duty of lawyers towards society.


Justice Amitava Roy, Judge, Gauhati High Court followed by an interactive session by all the speakers, took the 2nd Technical session on ‘Legal Techniques in the conservation of Energy and Preservation of National Resources’. He gave a comprehensive view on sustainable development. Keeping in tune with the seminar topic an exhibition on Legal and environmental issues was also organized by the students of the college showcasing their talent in model making, legal paintings, live-demonstration on legal issues, environmental protection etc. The Seminar concluded with a warm vote of thanks delivered by Hema Gogoi, Asstt. Professor, NEF Law College.
