Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is confident of winning over 60 seats in the assembly polls. But the poll pundits of the ruling party are sure of maximum 50 seats only. A confidential report of the puts the figure at maximum 50. But the report is confident of a Congress I-led government with the support of either BPF or AIUDF. On the other hand BPF is expected to gain from 10 to 13. But they would support only Tarun Gogoi is retained as the Chief Minister. The ruling party has another option: AIUDF is ready to support the government if Bhubneswar Kalita replaces Tarun Gogoi.
However, senior leaders told Assam Times that they were not aware of any confidential report. They said their party would get absolute majority to form the government of their own.

I am partially agree wth Pallavi but not fully.Because I feel, Tarun Gogoi government failed to control the bureaucrats, and the money released for development works, such as in Panchayats level or for any such local bodies were misused by various different offices. And it is found that some people of the village level became a rich men within a night.

Congress is indeed going to stay here whether we want it or not merely by virtue of no suitable alternate is available 4 Assam ! No body wants the old bankrupt regime of AGP back even when Congress Govt has failed on many developmental front !

Bishwajeet, does every body want to have a government to govern who have the records to face the highest corruption cases since last ten years? I dont know. But I am sorry to say that Tarun Gogoi minsitry just tried to stya away from ecery allegation by saying: those who have/had cried against them were/are plotically motivated. And for me whether Congress or AGP or BJP, they are all in the same boat. And for your kind information m not Congressee, not a BJP or AGP or AIUDF member. Just dont mix up conscious mind with politics, like every political party of Assam are doing. Think rationally, think impartially. For me very political party of Assam are not for the common people, people living in the grass root level.
Top regional parties of the north eastern region are holding a two days' convention in Guwahati on Saturday to revive regionalism just six months before the Lok Sabha polls. Convened by AGP, the conference began at the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoka in the morning. Apart from SAP leader Surjit Singh Barnala, Nagaland chief minister Neiphu Rio and former Meghalaya chief minister Dr Donkuper Roy and former Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta attended the convention. A huge storm left the entire west Jorhat completely ravaged uprooting many trees and disrupting surface communicationonSaturday midnight. The move to hold Rabha autonomous body election triggers a fresh orgy of violent protest in the Rabha Hasong areas of Kamrup and Goalpara districts. Thousands of non Rabha people in these areas have come out to the streets to launch the civil obidience movement in protest against the autonomous body poll slated for next month. Protesters in large number stopped the trains in Krishnai. Some others burnt tyres to block the movement of traffic from early in the morning. Over a dozen of vehicles have been set on fire by the non Rabha protesters. Bandh supporters at Boko blocked the Chilarai Express for several hours.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has categorically refused to reshuffle his council of minister. Taking up a letter of request of the kind in the party's legislature body meeting in Dispur on Saturday, Gogoi said that the reshuffle is not required at this moment. He said that he was open for the excercise as situation warrants. He silently listened to the MLAs and ministers as they vented ire on the performance of a section of ministers. The 3 hour long meeting ended with a pledge to unitedly fight the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Then Gogoi left for Delhi to arrange his son's wedding ceremony.
A section of ministers has come in for sharp critism for alleged under performance. A circle of ministers and MLAs, known for waging war against Tarun Gogoi and a few of his trusted men, came down heavily on the non performing ministers. Those who vented anger agaist Gogoi's men were Pradan Barua, Piyush Hazarika. They were countered by Nilmonisen Deka. Anjan Dutta alleged that the ministers, mostly, have lost control over the officers and demanded steps to rein in this trend. Sarat Borkotoky also expressed concern over this uneasy trend.
