In a bid to sensitise students on various career opportunities .North East Youth Foundation (NEYF) had organised a Career Counselling Programme at St Xavier’s School in Diyungbra in the Dima Hasao District on 19th March. The career counselling programme was first of its kind as for the first time this kind of programme was organised in the school campuses which was founded in 2001. Programme was inaugurated by Fr Arul Soosai, Principal of the school and facilitated and moderated by Ranjan K Baruah of NEYF. Various career opportunities were discussed by the resource person apart from providing information to students about their dream profession. Al together 60 students participated in the programme and they interacted with the resources person and got information on various requirements for becoming successful in life. NEYF and St Xavier’s shall organise more of such programme for the students in the locality in coming days as this kind of programme helps the students in their career planning.

Jesuits are doing marvellous job in Dima Hasao District. They have done so much for the children in such a short span of time. I feel so happy to know that the North East Youth Foundation is helping them out in their own humble way. Hope many more good people will extend their helping hands in the days to come.

Gauhati University has announced the results of the B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Part-II examinations-2008 conducted by it on Monday evening. According to information, in the BA exam, 13,966 candidates out of a total of 27,167 were successful, with the pass percentage being 51.41. In the B.Sc. exam, 1,655 candidates out of a total of 2,494 passed, the percentage being 66.36. In the B.Com exam, 2,378 out of a total of 3,186 passed, with the pass percentage being 74.64.

The 12 hour statewide Assam bandh that disrupted normal life has ended on Monday evening. The bandh was by and large peaceful. Barring a few stray incidents, the situation was by and large peaceful. Assam's overall law and order situation is improving a bit if the recent Home ministry report is to be believed.The report says there is slight decrease in the violent scenario in Assam adding that the state has registered only 152 cases till March 31, 2008 as compared to the corresponding period of the last year when the number of such incidents was 156.The report, however, has attributed it to the sustained counter insurgency operations against militant outfits.
