Cultural Function of Assam by Assam Association of Mumbai

The Assam Association, Mumbai organizes a cultural
function of traditional Assamese music and dance to be
performed by reputed artists specially invited from Assam
on Sunday 23rd September 2007 at Assam Bhawan,
Vashi, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Those cultural items were
created by Sri Sri Sankardeva, the greatest cultural and
social reformer of NE India.
On this occasion, the association takes the pleasure to
invite you and your associates/journalists to make this
event a success. We shall be grateful, if you kindly grant

It was very nice to get the news about the celebration of greatest saint of Asom Srimanta Sankardev, who was the founder of basic culture and peace in Assam, which is still followed to maintain our strong history.

Congressman Phani Sarma passes away

Noted sports organizer and senior Congress leader Phani Sarma breathed his last at his own residence at Bamunimaidam here at 7.15 a.m. today. He was 76.He was the treasurer of ruling Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and also involved with many other socio-cultural organizations of the State. New President for AGP- Mahanta set to return

North Indians with ULFA link

Sibasagar police has arrested four individual for alleged links with ULFA. Among them three individuals are from Sibasagar and one from Moran. The individuals have been arrested for assisting in collection and supplying huge amount of money to ULFA. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mr Pradeep from Nivedon Stores, Mr Radheshyam from Apsara Store and another all hailing from Sibasagar and Mr Bikash Agarwal from Moran. Ironically while on the one hand ULFA is threatening North Indians to leave Assam at the same time we find them also assisting the ULFA.

Inauguration of Mobile Banking in Diphu

The first Mobile Banking facility in Assam was inaugurated in Diphu on 21st July,2007. LANGPI DEHANGI RURAL BANK which is mostly in Karimganj and North Cachar Hills District is introducing it in Assam. It was inaugurated by famous personalities like Dr. M.K. Nayak (Deputy general manager,SBI), Mr. B.K. Phukan (DIF, sectional officer), Mr. K.C. Behra, Mr. G.K. Sarmah and Mr. N.K. Hazarika. Blast in the Time of Festival: 5 dead, 20 injured

Guwahati: In yet another ‘handiwork,’ ULFA explodes a powerful bomb in the busy Machkhowa areas on Saturday morning at around 7-30 which left four people dead and more than twenty injured.The blast that rocks again in the time of the grand Ambubachi mela atop Kamakhya and Asian Athletic Grand Prix at Sarusajai, took place in front of a mosque. Expolision Rocks Guwahati Again: 4 killed 20 injured

Guwahati: A powerful bomb that explodes in the city on Saturday morning leaves four people dead besides more than twenty injured.he explosion took place at Machkhowa and that too in front of a mosque at a daily vegetable market at around 7-30 am. All those killed in the explosion are pedestrians.Immediately after the explosion, top ranked police and civil administration officials arrived in the spot and investigation is going on.The injured were admitted to the nearby hospital.No one has so far been rounded up in the city.
