Assam has reasons to heave a sigh of relief. Peace and development are back to the state. Militants, mostly, have shunned the path of violence paving the way for peace and tranquility. This was more or less of what GoC-in-C of Corps-4 Lt Gen Shakti Gurung said on Tuesday.
Talking to reports in Tezpur, he said security forces under Unified Command Structure will continue to fight anti-social activities which disturb the peace and harmony of the people of Assam and North East.
He said in view of the changed situation, Operation Rhino launched on January 25, 1990 has now been replaced by army's Operation Sadbhavana for winning the hearts and minds of people.
