KMSS resumes anti big dam protest

After a brief halt, Lakhimpur and Dhemaji disticta erupted in anti big dam protest when thouands of people blockaded supply of materials meant from the NHPC-owned mega dams in Gruamukh. Spearheaded by KMSS and AASU, the potestors in thousands are holding protests along the National Highway No 52 to prevent rush o trucks carrying machinaries to Grukamukh.

KMSS and AASU leaders said that they will not allow any vehicle to bound for Gerukamukh based NHPC-owned project. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said that they would intensify the protest against the mega dams now under construction which would have adverse impact on the downtream areas.

Notably, KMSS called off the stir for two days Saturday and Sunday waiting for Government response. But that has not happened.
