Like earlier occasions, the 56th Annual Technical Session of the Assam Science Society will be held with day-long programme in Dibrugarh sometime in mid-February, 2011. This Session is organized every year to provide a platform to present and discuss the research findings of both senior and junior researchers working in different fields of science and technology in the country in general and north-east region in particular. In connection with this, the Society invites abstract of research paper in the fields of mathematical, physical, chemical, biological, medical, agricultural & veterinary, and earth & environmental sciences within 200 words so as to reach GENERAL SECRETARY, ASSAM SCIENCE SOCIETY, KHANAPARA, GUWAHATI-781022 both in hard copy and soft copy on or before 20th January, 2011. The full paper within six pages (A4 size) should be sent before 7th of February, 2011. The abstract of paper may also be sent through email to ajras1989@gmail.com or secy_ass@sify.com.

NGO electrifies village in Darrang district

Pre-cancerous lesions found among 20% patients

A total of 80 patients were seen in a free cancer detection camp held at Sanjevani Hospital in which 20% was found to have pre cancerous lesions and two patients was detected cancer in the oral cavity. The camp was held recently in the Department of E..N.T. headed by senior consultant Dr. Bhaben Choudhury. Dr. Choudhury said that the incidence of cancer in oral cavity in Assam increased due to consumption of various forms of tobacco. He appealed to the masses to avoid all form of tobacco which are very injurious to the health. In this connection Sanjevani Hospital already started awareness campaign in various parts of the state.
