Army organises lecture on career in armed forces in Barpata

Indian Army in its endeavour to motivate youths to join Indian Army, organised a Lecture cum Talk on “Career in the Armed Forces” at “Dakshin Bijni Adarsh Vidyapeeth Higher Secondary School, Saudarvitha”. The awareness programme was attended by 450 students of different schools of the area. The awareness programme was held under the aegis of Army Camp, Saudarvitha of 12 Kumaon Regiment under Red Horn Division.


The lecture and Talk introduced the students to various career opportunities in the Armed Forces. The students were explained with the help of slide shows and overhead projector on career options for both males and females such as National Defence Academy (NDA), Combined Defence Services (CDS), Officers’ training Academy (OTA). The details on Qualification required for each entry and UPSC Exam being conducted next year were also told to the students. A video documentary on the lives of cadets during the training at IMA (Indian Military Academy), Dehradun was also shown to the students.


The students were also encouraged to focus upon their aim and strive hard for better results. An appeal was also made to all parents to guide their children towards the correct path and encourage the children to join the Armed Forces. The effort of the Army was highly appreciated by the students and school authorities. This endeavour by Army was quite fruitful as it motivated and inspired many students to join the Armed forces and made them aware of the opportunities available in Indian Army.

Barpeta district CPI(ML) today observed jail-bhoro programme protesting against the skyrocketing price hike and the continuous corruption in implementing the various NREGA schemes of the entire district. The district unit took out a procession with slogan against the governments towards the deputy commissioner's office and in front of Deputy commissioner's office they staged demonstration. The sudden price hike of the essential commodities has made the life of the general people miserable. The state government has completely failed to control the price hike. Barpeta district AGP has taken out a protest march on September 14 and later on staged demonstration at the DC office premises. Barpeta district Anganbadi workers/ helpers Association staged a 4-hour demonstration at DC office premises on September 1 protesting to fulfill their various demands. In a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, it was stated that they have been urging the govt to fulfill their demands, but all are futile.
