Core Banking Solution in Assam Gramin Vikash Ban

From now onwards Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB) will serve their customers with Core Banking Solution (CBS). It was formally inaugurated in its Uzanbazar Branch in Guwahati recently. Core Banking Solutions are banking applications on a platform enabling a phased, strategic approach that is intended to allow banks to improve operations, reduce costs, and be prepared for growth.


AGVB is a multidimensional financial institution with an undiluted commitment to rural credit dispensation. It came into existence from January 12, 2006, covering the areas of operation of the pre-amalgamated Regional Rural Banks (Pragjyotish Gaonlia Bank, Lakhimi Gaonlia Bank, Cachar Gramin Bank and Subansiri Gaonlia Bank) with its Head Office at Guwahati. The Bank covers 25 out of 27 districts of the State through its strong network of 355 branches.

Union Ministry of Home Affairs will conduct special recruitment drives in the month of May-June, 2013 in the border districts of Assam for Category-Constable/GD posts. These special recruitment rallies will be conducted for filling up the vacancies which remain unfilled after the recruitment through Staff Selection Commission. Ekhon Nedekha Nodir Xipare (As the River Flows), a film by debutant director Bidyut Kotoky on the troubled river island Majuli has won two awards at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF).
