A day long awareness cum training programme organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang was held at Youth Club, Mangaldai on 1st November 2010 under the aegis of Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT), Guwahati Regional Centre. The objective of the programme was to create awareness and impart knowledge on minimizing the post harvest losses of various crops, utilization of different bye-products and value addition of raw agricultural produce. On the occasion, an inaugural function was also organized where the District Agricultural officer Pratap Sing Bharali, Assistant Project Officer (Credit) of DRDA Joyram Hazarika and a distinguished member of Darrang Zilla Parishad Matleb Ali addressed the participants with their valuable words. Earlier, T.P.Saikia, Programme Coordinator of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang & Nagaon delivered his welcome address. In the technical session Dr. Vidyalakshmi, Scientist of the Guwahati Regional Centre, Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology, T.P.Saikia, Programme Coordinator of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang & Nagaon and Ghanakanta Sarma, Farm Manager of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang elaborated the subject matter on “Principles of post harvest Technology”, “Post harvest handling technology of paddy” and “Processing, value addition and bye-product utilization” respectively through participatory lecture. More than hundreds of farmers from various corners of the Darrang district participated and were benefited through the programme. The entire programme was anchored by Himangshu Talukdar of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang and it ended with vote of thanks.
